Our Story

The Beginning

From August 1980 to October 1982, we moved into a shop lot at SS14 on the belief that God would graciously bless and grow the three-member cell group under the leadership of a young pastoral graduate. The cell group which was established by Glad Tidings Assembly, had until then been meeting at a member’s home every every so faithfully on Friday to pray and to study the Word.

From a cell group, we became an outreach and held our first Sunday Worship Service on 18 January 1981 evening, while continuing on with the weekly cell meeting on Friday. On 5 July the same year, we held our first Sunday Morning Worship Service and Sunday School, which were attended by 13 people and 8 children respectively.

The Journey

In anticipation of greater growth, we relocated to bigger premises in SS15 in November 1982. More people were added to the Church and at the end of January 1983, an average of 33 people attended the Sunday Morning Worship Service and 25 children at the Sunday School. Five years later, on 20 March 1988, we became a sovereign church with 22 members. Since then, it was onward march for us.

As we continued to believe in greater growth for the Church, we took another leap of faith in relocating our Sunday Morning Worship Service to Holiday Villa Subang. We remained there for some seven years.

Growth

In December 1995, we moved to USJ Taipan, to bigger premises to house the growing attendance and membership. The hands of God continued to move in our midst, launching us forth to different terrains, bringing fruition to the launch of the Chinese Worship Service in March and the BM Worship Service in October, both in 1998.

Today

God’s faithfulness proved to be steadfast. 11 August 2001 marked an important chapter in the history of the church – the Brick-laying ceremony of our very own building in SS13/3C. This began a season of fruitfulness for the church, as we grew in numbers, in fellowship and in ministries. SJAG continues to see God’s hand of blessing and favour since moving into our current building in SS13/3A in early 2011. We anticipate many more breakthroughs as we move forward fulfilling the mandates that God has spoken over us to impact lives by imparting His love to the community around us and nations at large.
